Penny Brown Reynolds, Ph.D., J.D., U. S. Department of Agriculture, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights will address the 124th National Black Business Conference, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Hilton Hotel, 255 Courtland Street, Atlanta, Georgia, according to the event organizers, Dr. Kenneth Harris, President, of the National Black Business League, Charles DeBow, President, Black Chamber of Commerce and Johnny Ford, Founder/President/CEO, World Conference of Mayors.
They are extremely happy that the Deputy Assistant Secretary is coming because of the recent billion-dollar settlement that has been made available to the Black Farmers and others who has been discriminated against and civil right have been violated over the years.
We are proud to see a distinguished African American Woman and judge in this important position who we are confident she will make every effort to make sure in the future civil rights of Black farmers are not violated.
Again, the Deputy Secretary will be addressing the conference which has approximately 1400 registered participates and we are expecting some of them to be descendants of black farmers who have been violated by the USDA in the past.
Dr. Brown Reynolds serves as one of the nation’s preeminent civil rights scholars and experts bringing 30 years of transformative leadership experience in civil rights, law, executive management, as well as higher education and organizational change management.
As Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, Dr. Brown Reynolds provides executive leadership and oversight for all of the agency’s strategic implementation, internal general operations, operational decision-making, organizational change management, civil rights policy initiatives, the agency’s budget, external stakeholder engagement, employee professional development, while concurrently serving as USDA’s Chief EEO Officer for its 100,000 plus employees. In addition, Dr. Brown Reynolds oversees performance management of the agency’s career Senior Executive Service leadership, including the Associate Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, the Executive Director for the Center for Civil Rights Operations and the Executive Director for the Center for Civil Rights Enforcement, special emphasis programs and liaising with agency Civil Rights Directors.
