WHEREAS, Mother’s Day is a time-honored tradition celebrated on the second Sunday in May each year, dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the invaluable contributions of mothers to families, communities, and society as a whole; and
WHEREAS, mothers provide the foundation of love, support, and guidance for children, serve as caregivers, educators, leaders, and nurturers, and embody compassion, resilience, and selflessness in their daily lives; and
WHEREAS, mothers have played essential roles throughout history and continue to lead in homes, workplaces, houses of worship, civic organizations, and elected office, shaping the moral and social fabric of our city; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor and celebrate mothers of all backgrounds, including biological, adoptive, foster, and chosen mothers, as well as grandmothers, aunties, and maternal figures who make a profound difference in the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, this recognition reflects our gratitude and deep respect for the unwavering strength, patience, and love demonstrated by mothers every day;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that:
- As Mayor, I hereby recognize Sunday, May 11, 2025, as Mother’s Day and extend heartfelt appreciation to all mothers and maternal figures within our community.
- I encourage residents to honor and celebrate the mothers in their lives through acts of kindness, appreciation, and remembrance.
- Copies of this resolution shall be presented to local organizations and community groups that support and uplift mothers and families in the City of Prichard and around the world.
